Even after the wholesale auctions relocated to Toyosu, Tsukiji's outer market kept its narrow lanes of seafood stalls, knife shops and tiny eateries. Your guide walks you through at a relaxed pace, pointing out which vendors locals actually line up for. Three food tastings are included, chosen on the day based on what's freshest.
The shrine that has protected the market for centuries
Tucked at the edge of the market, Namiyoke Inari Shrine is dedicated to protection from waves and misfortune. Look for the stone memorial tsuka scattered around the grounds, dedicated by market vendors to the fish, eggs and other ingredients that have sustained their businesses for generations.
A Buddhist temple that looks nothing like a Buddhist temple
This is one of Tokyo's most unusual religious buildings: a Jodo Shinshu Buddhist temple built in 1934 in an Indian stone architectural style, complete with domes and arched windows. Inside, the hall also houses a working pipe organ, used for occasional concerts.

Yes. Only your group and your guide. The 2–15 range is simply the group size we can take in one booking.
I am travelling solo. Can I book?+
Yes. Solo travellers are booked at the 2-person price so the tour can run privately for you.

Yes. Pick a date and start time when you book. Earlier starts mean fresher stalls and smaller crowds.
What if it rains?+
The tour runs in light rain. In a typhoon or severe weather we will contact you to reschedule or refund in full.

Tell us at booking. Tsukiji is a seafood market, so vegetarian, vegan and allergy-friendly tastings are more limited than on our other food tours, but your guide will do their best.
Which languages do the guides speak?+
All guides speak English. Some also speak Chinese, Korean, Spanish or French. Ask when booking and we will try to match you.
Is this the Tsukiji fish auction?+
No. The wholesale tuna auctions moved to Toyosu Market in 2018. This tour covers Tsukiji's outer market, which remains open with shops and food stalls.
Do I need to pay anything on the day?+
No. Everything listed is prepaid. Bring a little cash only if you want extra snacks or souvenirs.
